Turn cheap gear into expected material value
The Disenchanting Profit Finder compares item buy price or crafting cost against likely enchanting material outcomes. The useful number is expected profit: the weighted value of the likely materials, minus what you paid.
What the table is telling you
Expected value
The weighted auction value of possible enchanting materials from that item quality and level band.
Profit
The expected value minus current price or crafting cost. Positive profit is the starting point, not the whole decision.
Weighted outcomes
The material probabilities behind the calculation, with tooltips for the enchanting materials where available.
How to avoid bad disenchant buys
- Filter for positive expected profit. Negative rows are distractions unless you are checking a market anomaly.
- Check material liquidity. A profitable expected value is weaker if the resulting dust, essence, or shard barely sells.
- Check item level and quality. Small differences can change the material table completely.
- Do not overbuy thin listings. A profitable first item does not mean the next ten listings are also profitable.
- Compare crafting routes. Crafted disenchanting can work when inputs are cheap, but only if every reagent is available at the assumed price.
